Put a useful web page on your screen.
Turn a public page into signage content, from a simple dashboard to a menu or daily notice.
What is a website snapshot? It is a captured image of a web page used in a slide. Load a public HTTPS URL in the Website tab, check its preview, and add the saved slide to an assigned playlist.
Show a page as an image on your TV.
Website snapshots are useful for public dashboards, announcements, menus, and other pages designed to be read at a glance. UrbanLoop captures the page and uses the resulting image as slide content.
The display is a snapshot, not an interactive browser. Viewers cannot click links, scroll, fill in a form, or play a page’s embedded video through that image. For video playback, use a Video slide or supported YouTube content.
Choose a page the capture service can open.
Use a public HTTPS URL that opens without signing in. The capture service does not use the login session in your browser or management app. A dashboard that works on your laptop may still show a sign-in screen when captured.
Check the page in a signed-out browser first. Pages behind a VPN, an internal network, a paywall, a consent screen, or an anti-bot check may not produce the image you expect. Do not make a private dashboard public just to capture it. Use an approved public display view, an exported file, or another content source instead.
Create a website slide
Open the Website tab
In the management app, open Slides, add a slide, and select Website.
Load the page
Paste the full HTTPS address into Website URL and choose Load Website Capture. Allow the capture to finish.
Review the preview
Check that the image shows the intended page rather than a sign-in prompt, banner, error, or loading screen. Make sure the important information is readable.
Save the slide and playlist
Save the slide, add it to the relevant playlist, and assign the playlist to the intended TV. Set a duration that gives viewers enough time to read it.
Check the actual result
Let the connected Apple TV receive the content. Review a fresh screen capture and check the physical display for readability and framing.
Prepare the page for a screen.
A short page with large text is usually more useful than a full desktop dashboard squeezed onto a TV. Put the most useful information near the top and remove controls that viewers cannot use.
- Prefer a dedicated display view over a long page with navigation, sidebars, and small tables.
- Use clear contrast and a layout that suits the screen’s orientation.
- Check fonts, charts, and images in the captured preview, not only in your own browser.
- Choose content that remains useful between captures. A snapshot is not suitable for a value that must update continuously.
For a presentation your team edits often, Google Slides may be easier to maintain. For a document or image you control, use files and video.
Understand how snapshots refresh.
After the first capture, UrbanLoop periodically checks eligible website slides for updates. The refresh interval depends on the account and service settings. A source-page edit still needs to be captured, delivered to the player, and shown in its playlist.
Automatic refresh is intended for slides in use: the slide needs to be in a playlist linked to a TV that has been active recently. Refresh may pause for content that is no longer in use. Keep the player connected and check its assigned playlist if a page stops updating.
Do not rely on a snapshot for second-by-second information. If an update is missing, compare the public source page, the saved slide preview, and a recent TV capture to find where the content has stopped progressing.
When a capture is not what you expected
| What you see | What to try |
|---|---|
| The URL will not load | Use a complete HTTPS URL and confirm that the public page loads. Check redirects, access restrictions, and temporary source errors. |
| A sign-in screen or permission message | Use a page that does not need your personal browser session. For private content, choose an approved export or display view. |
| A cookie banner, loading screen, or missing chart | Review how the page behaves for a new visitor. Simplify the display view or use another supported source if its content cannot be captured reliably. |
| Text is too small or the page is too long | Prepare a shorter display view with larger type and fewer columns. Check the preview and actual viewing distance. |
| The image is older than the source page | Allow for periodic capture and delivery. Check that the slide is still in a playlist assigned to a recently active TV. |
| The preview is correct but the TV is not | Check the TV’s assigned playlist, content schedule, connection, and last update using the remote management guide. |
Common questions
Can I capture a dashboard that needs a login?
This flow does not carry over your browser’s signed-in session. Use an approved public display view or an exported file instead of a private dashboard link.
Will links and videos in the page work on the screen?
The capture is a still image. Use a Video slide for playback, or a supported connected source for the content you want to show.
Is Website Capture the same as Screen Capture?
No. Website Capture turns a web page into slide content. Screen Capture in remote TV management shows what the display app is currently rendering.
