Add and organize content

Slides are your content sources. A slide can hold an image, video, document, connected presentation, or another supported source. Playlists organize those slides. TVs play the playlist assigned to them.

  1. Open Slides, create a new slide, and choose its source type.
  2. Add the file or source URL, check its preview and options, then save.
  3. Open a playlist and add the saved slide. Set the order and durations appropriate to your content.
  4. Open the intended TV, assign the playlist, and save. Check the actual screen.

For an editable presentation, follow the Google Slides integration guide. For other sources, use their matching tab rather than pasting every URL into the same field.

Schedule what plays

Use a slide’s scheduling options to choose when it is eligible to play. Review its date range, days of the week, and start/end times. Leave it always available only when that is intended.

For example, a cafe can show a morning offer during breakfast hours and a different promotion later in the day. A school can schedule event notices for the relevant dates. Test the schedule on one screen and check the configured location and time before repeating it elsewhere.

Content schedules and display power settings do different jobs. Scheduling a slide controls content eligibility; it is not a guarantee that a television will physically turn on or off. Display behavior depends on the Apple TV, screen, and setup.

Google content and other connected sources

Connect the account that has access to your Google presentation, calendar, or Drive folder. Follow the relevant file-selection or confirmation flow in the management app. If access changes, reconnect or select the source again.

Connected content needs time to refresh and active devices to receive updates. Check the source account, assigned playlist, schedule, and connection before troubleshooting the display itself.

To add a feed, choose the feed source and confirm the RSS, Atom, JSON, or supported YouTube channel/playlist URL. For a single video, use the video source. Preview and test the content before placing it on public screens.

Manage TVs, sites, and groups

Each TV record identifies a screen and its assigned content. Use sites to organize locations and TV groups when applying supported settings to several screens. Review the devices selected before saving a group change.

Organization administrators can manage linking and access. Curators have more limited permissions; if an action is unavailable, ask your organization administrator rather than creating a duplicate account.

Auto-Sync and managed deployment

  1. Open the TVs area and its Auto-Sync section.
  2. Use App Config Generator to prepare the configuration for your organization and sites.
  3. Apply it through your MDM to the intended Apple TVs, and launch the display app on those devices.
  4. Use Get Unlinked Devices, select the intended devices, and choose Link Selected Devices.
  5. Review the Map Sites dialog, confirm the mappings, and verify the resulting TVs and playback.

Follow the managed deployment and Auto-Sync guide, or download the Jamf deployment reference (PDF). App configuration can contain organization credentials: keep it private, and pilot one device before rollout.

Existing per-device MDM setups

Older installations may use the legacy per-device configuration. Keep a working deployment in place while reviewing the current organization-level workflow. Contact UrbanLoop if you need help planning that transition; do not combine the two configuration examples.

Emergency alerts

UrbanLoop supports manually triggered alerts and configured feed-based alerts. Have an authorized administrator review the alert source, trigger conditions, selected screens, and dismissal behavior, then test the setup in your environment.

Delivery depends on configuration, connectivity, and active devices. Use signage alerts as part of your communication plan; do not assume they replace an organization’s required emergency systems.

Still need a hand?

Tell us which management app and Apple TV app versions you are using, the type of content, and what you see on the screen. A screenshot without private account information is useful. Do not send passwords, tokens, or organization linking secrets.
