Get your first screen playing.

A practical setup guide for connecting an Apple TV, adding content, and getting the right playlist onto your display.

Updated October 15, 2026 · UrbanLoop product guidance

UrbanLoop has two parts: the management app controls your content and TVs; the Apple TV display app plays the content on the screen. Link them once, then manage the screen from the dashboard.

Before you begin

  • An Apple TV with access to the App Store, connected to your display by HDMI.
  • Internet access for the Apple TV and your management device.
  • An UrbanLoop account with permission to add or link TVs. Ask your organization administrator if you are a Curator.
  • One image, short video, or presentation to use as your first piece of content.
Looking for the app? UrbanLoop Signage continues the EZTV / EZ Plus signage product. The App Store listing or an older installed version may still use the previous name during the transition. Use the official App Store listing for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

Set up your first screen

  1. Open the management app

Visit app.urbanloop.ai, or open the management app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Sign in or create an account. This is where you manage content, playlists, and TVs.

  2. Install and open the Apple TV display app

Connect the Apple TV to your display, choose the correct HDMI input, and install the UrbanLoop / EZ Plus display app from the Apple TV App Store. Open it on the TV.

  3. Show the linking code on the TV

Open the display app’s settings and choose Link With Management App. Keep the linking code visible while you return to the management app.

  4. Link a TV in the management app

Go to TVs and open the TV you want to connect, or create one if needed. Choose Link With New Device, then Link using code displayed on the TV. Enter the current code and confirm the link. Save your changes.

  5. Create your first content and playlist

Go to Slides, create a new slide, and choose a supported source such as an image, video, document, or Google Slides presentation. Preview and save it. Add it to a playlist, or use the first playlist already available in your account.

  6. Assign the playlist and check playback

Open the linked TV’s settings in the management app and choose the playlist it should play. Check the content and schedule, then save. Keep the display app open and confirm the content appears on the actual screen.

Before leaving the screen unattended

  • The TV is linked to the intended account, site, and playlist.
  • The display is in the correct orientation and all text is readable from its viewing distance.
  • The playlist contains the intended content and its schedule is active.
  • Any video or audio behaves appropriately for the space.
  • The screen can reconnect and resume playback after a normal restart; test your own setup.

Start with one screen, confirm the experience, and then roll the setup out to additional TVs.

What you seeWhat to check
The linking code does not workUse the current code on the TV. Reopen the linking screen if the code has expired, and check that both devices can reach the service.
The TV is linked, but the playlist is emptyAdd a saved slide to the playlist and make sure that playlist is assigned to this TV.
Content is missing or appears at the wrong timeCheck date ranges, weekdays, start/end times, and the TV’s configured location and time zone.
Google content will not loadCheck the connected Google account and file permissions. Reopen the source form and refresh or select the file again.
The display app cannot connectCheck internet access and your organization’s network policy. On managed networks, ask IT to review service access rather than opening broad inbound ports.

Deploying several Apple TVs?

Use the managed deployment and Auto-Sync guide for the full organization-level rollout workflow.

For managed devices, use the App Config Generator and Auto-Sync workflow rather than pairing every screen manually. Keep generated organization values private. MDM configuration and app identifiers must match the app you are deploying.

Read the UrbanLoop Jamf School deployment guide (PDF). Run a one-device pilot with your own MDM environment before a wider rollout.
