Make one change across the right screens.

Use TV groups for shared settings while keeping the right content and local details on each screen.

Updated October 15, 2026 · UrbanLoop product guidance

What does a TV group do? It lets you review and apply supported settings to several TVs together. Check the selected screens and proposed changes before confirming the update.

Update several screens together.

A TV group saves you from making the same change one screen at a time. Use a group for a set of shop windows, reception displays, classroom TVs, or other screens that need a shared adjustment.

GroupWhat it includes
Custom groupThe individual TVs you select and save as members.
Predefined site groupThe TVs currently assigned to that site.
TVs in OrgThe organization-wide selection available to administrators.

Predefined selections follow the current organization or site membership. A custom group keeps the member list you choose. Check that list whenever screens move or a new location is added.

Create a custom group

  1. Open TV Groups

In the management app, open TVs, then TV Groups (or Groups on a compact mobile layout), and add a group.

  2. Give it a clear name

Use a name that describes the screens, such as “Downtown window screens” or “Campus reception TVs.” Add notes if they help another person understand its purpose.

  3. Select the TVs

Open the TV selection control and choose the intended screens. Review their names, sites, and the Selected TVs list before continuing.

  4. Review the group’s sites

Check the site selection for the custom group. This helps organize the group and its visibility; the member list still determines which TVs a custom group update targets.

  5. Save the group

Use Apply Changes or Save & Exit. If settings were also edited, review the confirmation showing the number of TVs and the changes before confirming.

Choose the settings you want to change.

Open the group to review the shared content and setup controls. Depending on the setting, you can adjust assigned playlists, slide pacing and auto-advance, sound, orientation, screen elements, background content, or power-save schedules.

Some controls can show mixed values because the selected TVs have different settings. Change only what you intend to make consistent. If the app lists non-compliant TVs, open View Details and review the differences before applying more changes.

Review the confirmation carefully. Replacing playlists can remove a location’s existing playlist choices; replacing power-save schedules can replace the schedules already on each selected TV. Use Cancel if the scope or proposed changes are not what you intended.

How a group update works

Applying settings writes the changed values to the TVs selected by that group at the time of the update. It does not create a permanent inheritance rule.

  • A later edit to an individual TV can change its settings again.
  • If the same TV belongs to another group, a later update through that group can replace the same settings.
  • Adding a TV to a custom group does not automatically replay every change made to that group in the past.
  • Before updating a predefined site or organization group, review its current members. The selection may have changed since the last update.

Keep a short record of shared settings when consistency matters. After moving or adding screens, review their settings and apply the intended values deliberately.

Use groups without losing local relevance.

For a group of retail screens, you could apply a common orientation or background setting while leaving each TV’s local playlist alone. When a campaign should run everywhere, review the intended playlists and schedules before applying them across the group.

Sites, groups, and playlists serve different purposes. Sites organize locations and access; a group selects TVs for shared changes; playlists determine the content those TVs play. A group by itself does not synchronize a video wall or adapt a creative to the physical screen layout.

Check the result on representative TVs

  1. Review the saved result

Read the update confirmation and reopen the group or TV if needed. If an update fails, check the reported error before assuming every screen changed.

  2. Allow connected players to update

A saved setting and a player receiving it are separate steps. Check that the display app is running and connected.

  3. Check more than one screen

Use remote captures for a few representative TVs, including a screen that previously had different settings. Confirm playlists and schedules as well as the image.

  4. Check the installation when needed

Inspect the actual displays for sound, orientation, video smoothness, power behavior, or coordinated wall timing. A remote capture cannot confirm every physical detail.

Common questions

Can I edit all the TVs in one site?

Use the predefined group for that site and review the current TVs before applying settings. Administrators also have an organization-wide selection.

Will new group members inherit earlier settings?

A group update applies to the TVs selected at that time. Review a new member’s settings and apply the intended changes after adding it.

Can a TV belong to more than one group?

Yes. Remember that later updates to the same setting can replace earlier ones, whether they come from a group or an individual TV edit.

Do I need a group to use the same playlist on several TVs?

No. You can assign a playlist to individual TVs. A group is useful when you want to review and apply shared settings together.

Make the next shared update with confidence.

Review sites and team access, or plan when your content plays.
