UrbanLoop Signage · Product updates

Check the screen before making the trip.

A fresh capture and the content information beside it can help you decide what to check next when a display is in another building or branch.

What the remote-management update added.

The 15.1 release story introduced remote screen captures, repeated capture monitoring and content refresh controls. Its original compatibility note called for version 15.1.3 or later on both management and display apps. For a new deployment, use supported current versions and follow the current setup guide.

The practical benefit is a better first check: you can inspect what the player is rendering and its content information before asking someone to visit the screen.

Start with a question you can answer remotely.

A branch manager reports that an offer is still showing after it should have ended. Open the TV record, check whether remote management is connected and request a fresh capture. Compare its timestamp and displayed content with the expected playlist and schedule.

If the player is showing the older item, inspect its source, assignments and timing rules. If the capture looks correct but the shop’s physical TV looks wrong, check the TV input, power or another part of the local setup. The capture cannot verify that physical display by itself.

Use monitoring for a short inspection.

Start Monitor requests repeated screen captures so you can inspect a short section of playback. It is not a continuous live video stream. Use it to check whether a playlist advances or a new item appears, then stop the session when you have the information you need.

A recent device check-in and an available live command connection are different signals. If a command cannot reach the player, start with the connection rather than assuming the content itself is broken.

Refresh content with a reason.

Force Refresh Content can ask a connected player to refresh its content. Downloads and processing still take time. Check the source and assignment first; a refresh cannot fix a file that the TV has never been assigned.

After the command, take another capture and inspect its timestamp. For playback sound, readability, HDMI input and actual display power, keep a physical-check routine as well. Remote tools help narrow the problem, but do not eliminate every site visit.

Make it part of a repeatable screen check.

Use the remote TV management guide for connection status, Screen Capture, Start Monitor and refresh behavior. The business signage guide covers assigning useful content to different spaces and locations.

For recurring notices, pair these checks with a maintained Drive folder or a shared Slides presentation.
